Forging and treatment furnaces are characterized by the need to withstand continuous thermal shocks, considerable mechanical stress and, in some cases, violent pressure surges. Unistara offers this important industrial sector a range of very high-quality products, for the extreme temperatures (over 1600°C) of some particular forging furnaces, but also for the less elevated ones typical of steel tempering furnaces (400 – 500°C).
The exasperating cycles to which forging furnaces are subjected require the use of increasingly high-performance products, able to withstand thermal shock (generally due to the opening of the furnace for the introduction of the load) and mechanical shock due to the size and weight of the materials treated.
Those with a bauxitic matrix are particularly suitable for lining the sole of forging furnaces and those for heating, due to their remarkable resistance to mechanical wear.
Fiberfrax ceramic fiber modules, or low bio persistence Isofrax modules, are widely used in the wall and vault lining of these furnaces. For backup insulation, Duraboard slabs are commonly used in the same qualities.
For the insulation of the sole, insulating shapes are used, in classes 23, 25 and 28, according to the international ASTM classification.
At the Production Department of Fiorano Modenese, Unistara produces burner blocks with mullitic and Andalusian mixes, prefabricated castings with bauxitic mixes, as well as blocks for the Andalusian matrix sole.
In addition to a range of products in continuous evolution, the offer addressed to the forging and treatment furnaces sector can include the demolition of the existing lining, the maintenance or complete revamping of the lining, according to customer’s project or Unistara project, the drying diagram and the possible dryout.
